This policy explains how Annan Capital Partners collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit this website or contact us through it, and the rights you have under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). We have kept it plain so that it can be read, not just filed.

  • We use it to reply to you, to run and secure the website, and to meet our legal duties. We do not sell personal information.
  • Nothing from third parties loads on this website until you click Accept in the cookie banner. We currently run no analytics or advertising trackers.

01Who we are

Annan Capital Partners (“ACP”, “we”, “us”) is a pan-African investment holding and investment banking advisory house. We are headquartered in Mauritius and operate primarily from Ghana.

For the purposes of the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) (the “Act”), ACP is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

Our offices:

  • Accra: One Airport Square, 7th Floor, Airport City, Accra, Ghana
  • Mauritius: The Junction Business Hub, Arsenal Branch Road, Calebasses, Pamplemousses 20201, Mauritius

ACP’s Data Protection Supervisor is Kingsley Osei Amponsah, CTO and Group Operations Manager. You can reach him through info@annancapitalpartners.com or on +233 (0) 302 935 194. Please put “Data protection” in the subject line so that your message is routed correctly.

02How we approach your information

We follow the privacy principles in the Act: accountability, lawfulness of processing, specification of purpose, compatibility of further processing with the purpose of collection, quality of information, openness, data security safeguards and data subject participation.

In practice that means we collect only what we need and tell you why, we use it only for those purposes or compatible ones, we keep it accurate and secure, we keep it no longer than necessary, and we respect your rights over it.

03Information we collect

Information you give us. If you use the enquiry form, that is your first name, last name, email address, job title or role, company, and the message you write, together with your confirmation of consent. If you email or phone us, or send us a document or an expression of interest for a role, we hold what you send.

Information collected automatically. When you visit, our hosting provider receives the technical information that accompanies any web request: your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, the pages requested, the date and time, the page you came from, and security-related events. When you submit the enquiry form we also record the web address and title of the page you submitted it from.

Information stored in your browser. See the section on cookies and similar technologies below. Before you make a choice, we store nothing.

Information about clients and counterparties. If you move from an enquiry to an engagement with us, we will collect further information, such as identity and due diligence information needed for know-your-client, anti-money-laundering, sanctions and anti-bribery checks. That is collected through the engagement process, not this website, and we will tell you what is needed and why.

What we do not ask for. We do not ask for special personal data through this website, such as information about health, religious or political beliefs, ethnic origin, sexual life or criminal records. Please do not include it in the enquiry form.

04Why we use your information

We use personal information only where the Act allows it. The table sets out each purpose and the basis we rely on.

We do not make decisions about you using solely automated processing that has legal or similarly significant effects. We do not use your information for direct marketing unless you have given your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.

If we ever need to use your information for a purpose that is not compatible with the one we collected it for, we will tell you first and, where the Act requires it, ask for your consent.

05Cookies and similar technologies

When you first visit, a banner asks whether to allow optional third-party content. Nothing is requested from a third party unless you click Accept. Accept and Decline are given equal weight, and declining does not limit your access to the website.

If you decline, the “Watch here” button opens the film on YouTube in a new tab instead. That visit is governed by YouTube’s own terms and privacy policy.

We currently use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies or pixels. If we ever add any, they will load only after you accept, and we will update this policy first.

To change your choice at any time, use Cookie settings in the footer of any page. Withdrawing consent reloads the page so that nothing third-party remains active. The website is also configured with a security policy that makes your browser refuse third-party scripts, images and connections that we have not approved.

06Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers acting on our instructions under written terms: HubSpot, which stores enquiry form submissions and our contact records, in its European data region; Vercel Inc., which hosts the website and delivers it to your browser; and our email, document and IT providers.
  • Professional advisers such as lawyers, auditors and accountants, who are bound by duties of confidentiality.
  • Counterparties and partners, but only where you ask us to make an introduction or take part in a transaction.
  • Regulators, courts, law enforcement and other authorities, where the law requires or permits it.
  • A purchaser or successor, under confidentiality, if our business is reorganised or transferred.

07Transfers outside Ghana

Our team works from Ghana and Mauritius, and our service providers process information in other countries, including in the European Union and the United States. When your information leaves Ghana, we take reasonable steps, such as written data protection commitments with providers and limiting what we send, so that it stays protected to a standard consistent with the Act. If you want more detail about the safeguards for a particular transfer, ask us.

08How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, unless a law requires or allows us to keep it longer.

  • Enquiries: while we are in discussion with you, and for a reasonable period afterwards so that we can follow up and answer questions. We then delete or anonymise them.
  • Client and engagement records: for as long as needed to meet our contractual, tax, accounting and anti-money-laundering record-keeping duties.
  • Technical logs: held by our hosting provider for short, rolling periods for security and operational purposes.
  • Browser storage: until you change your choice or clear your browser data.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.

09How we protect it

We take appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of personal information. They include encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your browser and this website, access limited to people who need it, written confidentiality and security commitments from our providers, and the restrictions on third-party content described above.

No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure. Please avoid sending sensitive or confidential material through the enquiry form. Contact us first and we will agree a safer channel, and a confidentiality agreement where appropriate.

If we have reasonable grounds to believe that personal information has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person, we will notify the Data Protection Commission and the people affected as soon as reasonably practicable, as the Act requires.

10Your rights

Under the Act you have rights over your personal information. You can:

  • Be informed about what we hold and why. This policy is part of that.
  • Access your information: ask us to confirm whether we hold it and to give you a copy.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or misleading.
  • Ask us to delete or destroy information that we are no longer authorised to keep, or that we collected unlawfully.
  • Object to processing that is likely to cause you unwarranted damage or distress.
  • Object to direct marketing and withdraw any consent to it.
  • Not be subject to a decision that significantly affects you and is based solely on automated processing.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew.
  • Complain to the Data Protection Commission.

To use a right, email info@annancapitalpartners.com with “Data protection request” in the subject line, or write to either office above. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We will respond within the time the Act requires and in any event as soon as reasonably practicable. We do not charge a fee unless the Act permits one, and we will tell you before we do. If we cannot act on a request, we will explain why.

11Children

This website is for businesses, investors and professionals. It is not directed at anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please do not use the enquiry form. If we learn that we hold a child’s information without the consent of a parent or guardian, we will delete it.

12Links to other websites

This website links to other websites, such as partner organisations, news sources and social media, and can embed content from third parties such as YouTube. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please read their policies before you give them any information.

13If you are outside Ghana

If you are in Mauritius, the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, the data protection law of that place may give you additional rights. We will honour them where they apply, and you may also contact the supervisory authority there.

14Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example if we add a new provider or change what we collect. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you directly where we can.

15Contact and complaints

Please raise any question or concern with us first, at info@annancapitalpartners.com or on +233 (0) 302 935 194, and we will do our best to put it right.

You also have the right to complain to the regulator. In Ghana that is the Data Protection Commission, which oversees compliance with the Act.
